What you need to know about Lake Erie Not all lake Erie waterfront cottages are the same. Our waterfront is 100 feet from the cottage deck, you could pass a ball to the person in the water while sitting on the deck. With 5 steps down to the lake. Many cottage's on lake Erie are on high banks with dozen of steps down to the waterfront and a steep drop. Some waterfront cottages are overlooking the water and have a street that runs across them that you need to pack and walk across the street with all your beach stuff. Who wants that when you can sit on the deck and watch the kids play in the water only steps away from them.
